Hi, I'm a former game journalist, but even though I don't do that professionally anymore, I still have, you know, opinions. One of those opinions is that while I thoroughly enjoy games on Nintendo platforms, there are a lot of them that you have to wade through to get to the good stuff. So many, in fact, that there aren't too many reviews of some of them. With this in mind, I'll be contributing my own reviews and mini-reviews of these games to this subreddit so anyone who's curious can have something more to judge the quality of these games and try to weed out the diamonds from the rough. And just to be clear, I'm not paid by anyone, I'm not making any money off of this. I'm just doing this because I wanna'.
Genre: Puzzle-Platformer/MetroidvaniaPlayers: 1-2 Co-Op (Local).Review:Wuppo is a Puzzle-Platformer with Metroidvania level structure where players play as a 'Wum' who gets kicked out of the hotel he's staying in and ends up finding himself on an adventure involving the conflicts between the various odd races of the land. The Nintendo Switch version is the Definitive Edition of the game, adding in a new Co-Op mode.Wuppo is a game that isn't going to impress anyone graphically. Everything in the game looks like it was hastily scribbled with markers, and the main character himself is little more than a circle with stick line legs, dotted eyes, and a single line for a mouth.
Still, despite this simplicity, the game does have a sort of charm to it, thanks largely to the game's writing, which is delightfully witty.Beyond that, you'll be exploring the world and trying to figure out where to go and what items you've collected can be used to proceed. As games like this go, it's pretty good, although it can be easy to get stuck at times and feel the siren song of the walkthrough calling to you.In the end, Wuppo's charm and personality make it a game worth playing through. Even though its visuals are lacking and its puzzles can at times leave you frustrated or bewildered, you'll want to keep playing to see more of it's amusing world.tl;dr - Wuppo is a Platform-Puzzler with Metroidvania map structure.
It's not impressive to look at, and it's easy to get stuck and unsure where to go next, but its witty writing makes it worth playing through. Grade: B-. Football management ultra logos free.
